# What Higgsfield actually costs

How credit pricing works across AI generation tools, what drives the cost of a single generation, and the only cost metric that matters.

**No prices are reproduced here on purpose.** Plan names, credit allocations and per-model costs change frequently across this whole category, and a stale figure on a third-party site is worse than none. Check the vendor's own pricing page for today's numbers. What follows is the structure, which does not change.

## What drives the cost of one generation

  - **Model.** The dominant factor. Flagship video models cost multiples of lightweight image models because they genuinely cost that much to run.
  - **Media type.** One video generation can cost more than a hundred images.
  - **Duration and resolution.** Both scale compute directly.
  - **Extras.** Native audio, upscaling and multi-shot each add to the base.

## The metric that actually decides it

Not price per generation. **Price per generation you would actually deliver.**

Two tools: A charges 10 credits and needs four attempts before a keeper. B charges 25 and works on the second. A looks 60% cheaper and costs 40 credits per usable clip against B's 50 — close enough that the ranking flips the moment quality varies. Run it on your own shots rather than assuming.

### Measuring it in ten minutes

  - Pick one shot you genuinely need, not a demo-friendly one.
  - Run it three times on each candidate, same prompt.
  - Count how many you would actually deliver.
  - Divide total credits by keepers.

## Spending less without switching

  - **Draft cheap, finish expensive.** Settle composition on a fast model, run the final on the flagship. Iterating at flagship prices is where budgets vanish.

  - **Match model to requirement, not to the changelog.** The newest is rarely necessary and usually most expensive.
  - **Change one variable at a time**, so every generation teaches you something.

## Questions to ask of any credit system

  - Do unused credits roll over, or expire?
  - Are you charged for failed or rejected generations?
  - Does API use cost differently from interactive use?
  - Can you top up mid-period, or must you upgrade?
  - Which models are gated to which tier?

Answers vary widely and change the effective price far more than the headline does.

## Common questions

### Why not list the prices?

They change often enough that a third-party figure goes stale and misleads. The structure is stable; the numbers are not.

### Which is the cheapest AI video tool?

Wrong question. Cheapest per usable clip depends on how many attempts your shots need — measure it on your own work.

### Are annual plans worth it?

Only once you know your monthly volume. Committing before you have measured attempts-per-keeper is how people overbuy.
